Alex Ridha a.k.a. Boys Noize hasn’t passed thirty. Yet, his vision of edgy beats and sharp synthie sounds made him one of the best in terms of producing and Djing.
In 2005, Ridha found his own label Boysnoize Records. The Berlin-based, self-proclaimed "anarchist collective" is home to electro acts such as Strip Steve, D.I.M., Djedjotronic as well as Shadow Dancer.
He collaborated with Snoop Dogg and Spank Rock. In 2010, Boys Noize worked together with ‘Chilly’ Gonzales to produce his album Ivory Tower. Well-known hits like „Jeffer“, “& Down” and “Lava Lava” cause as much euphoria among the international club scene as his 2010 singles “Yeah” and “Transmission.” Picknickers will be in for a big BNR surprise, when Boys Noize not only invites his label mates but also his favourite live acts and DJs to Ferropolis.
With Erol Alkan, Boys Noize raises the bar high from the beginning. The London-based artist produced Franz Ferdinand as well as Mystery Jets among others. He also remixed Interpol, Hot Chip and Justice. Together with Boys Noize, Erol Alkan released two singles, Waves/Death Suite (2009) and Lemonade/Avalanche (2010).
Aus dem kanadischen Montreal reist Tiga an den Melt! Beach. Mit seiner aus Jux und Dollerei zusammengefrickelten Version des 80s Classics "I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" bescherte er sich und Zyntherius über Nacht einen Megaerfolg. Sein DJ Kicks Mix ist einer der gefragtesten bei K7 Records und seine Soloalben Sexor und Ciao! verkaufen sich wie warme Semmeln.
Also added to the bill: Djedjotronic. With his homemade creation of “electro bitchy dance,” his two EPs Dirty & Hard and Bit This In as well as countless remixes, Djedjotronic made quite an impact on the electro scene. He achieved international fame with his mixture of dirty industrial beats and rough techno sound.
Auch Lone, seines Zeichens Producer aus Nottingham, wurde von Boys Noize im Line-up platziert. Mit seinen Alben Ecstasy & Friends und Lemurian war er noch dem HipHop zugeneigt, seit "Pineapple Crush" macht er jedoch auf Detroit Techno.
Whether Connan Mockasin throws techno elements, psychedelic and folk references in the mix or even an acid-fuelled version of Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time,” his distinctive falsetto-like voice ties all strings together. His DJ sets are no less adventurous. We’re looking forward to Connan Mockasin’s Picknick gig.
Last but not least, Boys Noize picked BNR label mate Jan Driver to join the line-up. The Berlin-based DJ runs his own label GrandPetrol. He also made it onto the BNR Miami Noize sampler with his hit “Tellyfoam”, and he released the tech house maxi Gain Reaction in 2010.
