DJ Shadow

DJ Shadow is said to be one of the last visionaries of pop music. A digital future with sampling and remixes and new cultural technologies, Josh Davis has already seen it in 1996. For his milestone „Entroducing“, he sampled more than 500 records from the genres Soul, Funk, Rock, Ambient and HipHop and turned it into a new musical language. TripHop and Doenbeat, they are definitely influenced by DJ Shadow’s „Dope Beats“. Davis was also never one to fulfill expectations and on „The Outsider“, he tinkered a more open concept. Live, the mastermind still perforns every scratch himself, while his Electronic rocking sets are mixed with spectacular visuals. Why does DJ Shadow have to play at Melt!? He answers that question best himself: „Because everyone else is starting to sound like a wedding DJ.“
